U.S. Senator Allen Announces Prime Research Selection For A 3-year DOE Research Program
(August 15, 2003)

Washington, DC. U.S. Senator George Allen announced today that Prime Research, LC, a R&D subsidiary of Prime Photonics, LC, has been selected by the Department of Energy National Energy Technology Laboratory to receive up to $945,000 for a three-year research program to develop novel fiber optic sensors for ultrahigh temperature (<3,000ºF) fossil fuel applications. The goal of the program is to enable revolutionary improvements in the efficiency and output of fossil fueled power plants through introduction of new control systems based on a suite of robust fiber optic sensors.

"We are excited to have this opportunity to collaborate with the Department of Energy on such a high visibility sensor program" noted Joseph Swider, President of Prime Photonics, LC. "We will leverage the cutting-edge sensor research of this program with our ongoing commercialization initiatives to ensure that sensor systems are efficiently developed to meet the rapidly growing needs of the U.S. power industry."
