Prime Research announced today that it has formed a technical and business group that is primarily focused on commercializing and manufacturing sensor products for the biomedical market. Initially, this group will be focused on commercializing a family of fiber optic pressure and temperature sensors for both the commercial and military biomedical device markets.
The extremely small size (125 micron – about the width of human hair) of our fiber optic sensors and the application of hermetic coatings on the fiber will enable real-time, insitu measurements of pressure and temperature during medical procedures as well as during POSTOP monitoring. Additionally, our strength in materials analysis and the small size of our sensor technology makes it ideally suited for embedding several fiber optic sensors into catheter walls.
