U.S. Senator John Warner (R-VA) announced today that Prime Photonics, LC will be awarded a $3.0 million contract to continue a program currently underway at Prime Research for the development of a family of fiber optic sensor systems for the Navy’s gas turbine engines in support of Conditioned Based Maintenance and Prognostics Health Monitoring.
The photonic technology developed under this program is primarily focused on sensor systems for the GE LM2500 and Rolls Royce 501k family of turbines. Fiber optic sensors commercialized under this program include: pressure, temperature, flow, torque/thrust and fuel flow.
