Metamaterials

Metamaterials are engineered composite materials that have properties that, in contrast to ‘nanomaterials’, are largely derived from their physical structure and not their chemistry.  Metamaterials are designed to exhibit properties not observed in nature and/or to behave quite differently than how their constituent materials would behave.  Prime specializes in the design and development of electromagnetic metamaterials for both optical and radio frequency applications, resonant and non-resonant functionality, and very often we’re using them to expand sensor capabilities in extreme environment applications.
